The final report of the “Representative Survey on the Participation of People with Disabilities” (short: Participation Survey) has now been published by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and is available as PDF.
The study was conducted between 2017 and 2021. For the participation survey, 22,000 people aged 16 and older with and without impairments living in private households in the Federal Republic were interviewed, as well as a further 3,350 people with impairments and disabilities living in special forms of housing for people with disabilities or elderly care and nursing facilities. The participation survey is based on a modern understanding of disability and works with a new, internationally comparable concept for measuring disability. The study was conducted for the first time, as far as possible, using accessible survey methods.
On this basis, the final report provides reliable information on the living situation of people with impairments and disabilities in various areas of life in the Federal Republic. A detailed summary of the study results is also available in plain language.
