On November 21, 2025, Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder presented the results of the “Mobility in Germany 2023” (MiD) study in Berlin. Around one million journeys by more than 400,000 people in over 200,000 households were recorded for this study between April 2023 and July 2024. The aim is to gain detailed insights into the everyday mobility of different population groups throughout Germany. The results form a central basis for local transport planning, both nationally and regionally. The main client is the BMV. In addition, federal states, districts, cities and municipalities as well as transport associations and companies, special-purpose associations and supra-regional transport associations were able to commission regional top-ups. More than 60 institutions have made use of this offer and have therefore made in-depth regional results available.
infas conducted the study as in 2017, 2008 and 2002. The partners in MiD 2023 were the Institute of Transport Research at the German Aerospace Center, IVT Research GmbH and infas 360 GmbH.
The report and other publications are available on the study website. The data for the current study is available via the BASt MobilityData-Campus.
