infas has been continuously surveying the travel behavior of the German population for the Federal Statistical Office (DESTATIS) since 2012.
The office has now published key results for 2023 in a press release.
From the press release: “In 2023, travelers from Germany took a total of 251 million private and business trips with at least one overnight stay in Germany or abroad.
According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was 13% more than in the previous year, but 4% less than in the pre-crisis year 2019.
[…]”, DESTATIS infas surveys travel behavior by means of telephone interviews conducted on the basis of a random sample (dual frame). Among other things, travel destinations and durations, choice of means of transport, occasions, accommodation and expenditure are measured.
