The panel study “living at work” (lidA) conducted by the University of Wuppertal aims to investigate the extent to which gainful employment influences the health of older employees.
This is a cohort study in Germany that examines the subject area of “work, age, health and participation in employment”.
The results are intended to provide a basis for assessing risks and opportunities with regard to the health of older employees in Germany and to highlight the need for intervention.
A special feature of the study is that the target persons to be surveyed are asked for their consent for the survey data collected to include both process data from the Federal Employment Agency (in waves 1, 2 and 3) and individual health insurance data.

infas has been conducting the surveys for the panel survey of employed persons in the 1959 and 1965 birth cohorts since 2010.
The population of the survey consists of employees in these cohorts who are subject to social insurance contributions and who are surveyed in personal interviews (CAPI) at intervals of three to four years.
So far, three survey waves have been conducted in 2011, 2014 and 2018.
The fourth survey wave is currently taking place.
In more recent waves, a grip strength measurement was also carried out.
