WSI Work Council Study

The Institute of Economic and Social Research of the Hans Böckler Foundation (WSI) has been conducting regular surveys of work councils in cooperation with infas since 2004. The study provides comprehensive results on the work of work councils in companies in Germany with at least 20 employees subject to social security contributions. The surveys are representative of the regions West and East as well as sectors and size classes. Regular surveys also include changing work councils’ activities.

Methode

Telephone survey (CATI) of between 2,500 and 4,000 work councils’ representatives, as a rule with the chairperson. Representative sample from the Federal Employment Agency’s (BA) business file with previous screening to identify businesses with a work council.Annual panel survey of work councils by infas for the first time between 2007 and 2011; construction of the current work councils’ panel in 2015.
