On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS), infas in cooperation with ISG Cologne is investigating the remuneration system in workshops for disabled people (WfbM) until 2023. The aim is to develop a solid empirical data base in order to draw conclusions for the further political design and development of the sheltered workshop system. This includes the exploration of improved perspectives for workshop employees outside the workshop. To this end, a broad set of qualitative and quantitative analyses and surveys will be conducted as part of the research project. This includes the scientific investigation of the existing remuneration and income system, the collection and discussion of alternatives to the current remuneration and income system and the possibilities for employment in the general labor market. In the overall project, infas is in charge of standardized surveys of WfbM employees, former WfbM employees, WfbM women’s representatives and workshop councils.
