The study is based on a survey of the income and wealth situation of private households in Germany collecting detailed information on the structure of wealth and household debt. Other topics include intergenerational transfer of wealth as well as income and pension entitlements of all household members. The study is part of a larger survey project for the entire eurozone, the so-called Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS). Similar surveys are carried out in all eurozone countries. The data of the study therefore allow for internationally comparable analyses of the financial situation of households in the eurozone countries.
