The study “Private households and their finances” commissioned by the Deutsche Bundesbank is based on a survey of the income and asset situation of private households in Germany. It covers detailed information on the structure of household assets and debt. Other topics include the intergenerational transfer of wealth as well as income and pension entitlements of all household members. The survey is part of a larger survey project for the entire euro area called the Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS). Similar surveys are conducted in all euro area countries. The survey data therefore allow internationally comparable analyses of the financial situation of households in the euro area countries.
Disproportionale Stichprobe aus Einwohnermelderegistern. Persönlich-mündliche Haushaltsinterview sowie Einzelinterviews mit jeder Person ab 16 Jahren im Haushalt. Methodenwechsel auf Wunsch der Befragten möglich (Methodenmix).Der PHF ist als Längsschnittstudie (Panel) angelegt. In der ersten Erhebungswelle 2010/2011 wurden Interviews mit 3.565 Haushalten und darin mit 6.661 Personen realisiert. In den nachfolgenden Erhebungswellen 2014 und 2017 wird die Panelstichprobe jeweils durch eine Aufstockungsstichprobe neuer Haushalte aus Einwohnermelderegistern ergänzt. In Welle 2 wurden insgesamt 4.461 Haushalte und darin 8.349 Personen befragt, in der Welle 3 wurden 4.942 Haushalte und darin 9.165 Personen befragt. In der Welle 4 werden rund 6.000 Haushalte befragt.
