In the European Union (EU), labour force and unemployment surveys are based on the internationally agreed labour force concept, which is collected by means of Labour Force Surveys (LFS). At the heart of the Labour Force Survey is the continuous reporting on a weekly basis of ILO employment status and its monthly change. Specifically, this means providing the appropriate data for the employed, the unemployed and the inactive, their absolute change as well as the unemployment rate and its change.
infas has been conducting the Labour Force Survey for STATEC since 2009. In 2015, the methodology was revised.
